Wild experiences

Plan your day around one of the exciting animal shows, including Amazing Animal Ambassadors, which features iguanas, snakes, goats and birds showing off their special talents; Wings of Wonder, where you’ll see amazing birds such as an East African crowned crane and great horned owl fly right over your head; and Sea Lion Splash, an interactive show that both educates and delights the audience with the sea lions’ playful performance.

Daily zookeeper chats give visitors the opportunity to learn more about the animals at the zoo directly from the people who know the creatures best—the zookeepers! Hear about the care required for animals including penguins, polar bears, rhinos, elephants, lions, cheetahs, tigers, chimpanzees and more.

Each summer, the zoo hosts its Jazzoo fundraiser, a fun-filled night featuring live music and a variety of food and drinks from more than 70 local restaurants and breweries.

Amazing animals

Make your way to Stingray Bay to touch and feed stingrays as they swim along the bottom of the pool. Swing into the Orangutan Canopy to explore the 3,400-square-foot outdoor exhibit that was designed to test the intelligent animals’ agility. Waddle over to the Penguin Encounter at the Helzberg Penguin Plaza for an up-close-and-personal experience with gentoo, Humboldt and king penguins.

New this summer, visit our camel-feeding station. While you’re at the Kansas City Zoo, you can also get nose-to-nose with big cats, giraffes, African painted dogs and many more interesting animals.
